Assistant Director of Enrollment Communications

After a failed radio career, I realized my passion lay in helping students… and I’ve been doing that for more than 15 years, in various positions in enrollment management and student affairs. It’s a challenge to be a ‘Web guy’ who can’t code (yet), but I love working with our students and sharing their joys and successes with the world.

My Passions

My family, music, my students, and baseball–particularly the Mets. (In some order.)

Senior Accessibility Consultant at Deque

I love sharing my passion for the open web with government, education and companies that range from small business to Fortune 500. I serve as an accessibility consultant, judge and trainer for Knowbility, whose mission is to support the independence of children and adults with disabilities by promoting the use and improving the availability of accessibility information technology — barrier free IT.

Passions

I’m Glenda “the @goodwitch” and believe the web is for everyone; my passion is accessibility. I know I’m doing what I was meant to do when I cannot distinguish work from play.

Director of web and new media

I started my college career wanting to teach toddlers, but I quickly became enamored with this new World Wide Web thing that was developing. I changed my major, starting working full-time at Missouri State University and haven’t looked back. I’m in my fourth position at the University now, and I love how the web is a common thread among almost every project.

Formally, I have two degrees from Missouri State: BS in Technical Instruction and MS in Computer Information Systems. But I’ve learned the most about my craft from my colleagues in HighEdWeb.

My Passions

Learning new things, helping others and doing my best.

I worked in higher education 10+ years in communication/web management after studying physics, math and mass comm in undergrad. My web marketing, content strategy, and social media policy development experience continues in as web marketing coordinator at Ram Jack Systems Distribution. My web training was all self-taught or on – the – job training.

My Passions:

I love using the scientific method to troubleshoot technology problems. My passion is helping find ways to communicate with various groups, working through and past biases or preconceived ideas.

I have fur babies who are spoiled beyond belief. Most of my closest friendships began as peers I communicated with via Twitter and met IRL at HighEdWeb.
